Over Million File For Unemployment For 17th Week In A Row
The Labor Department released their statistics for weekly unemployment. It showed that 1.3 million workers filed for unemployment benefits in the week ending on July 11th. That marked the 17th week in a row that more than a million workers filed for unemployment -- and in most of those weeks it was significantly more than a million.
Here is the official Labor Department news release:
In the week ending July 11, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 1,300,000, a decrease of 10,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 4,000 from 1,314,000 to 1,310,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,375,000, a decrease of 60,000 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised down by 2,250 from 1,437,250 to 1,435,000.
