Open Government Canada Student Challenge!

The Canadian Federal Government announced recently that they will be hosting their first ever student open government challenge, to help discover how students at Canadian colleges and universities are using open data and open information.

  • Is it being used in research projects?
  • Is it being used to create apps as a hobby?
  • Or is it being used to help Canadians in some other way?

The goal is to create opportunities for students to participate in the open government community and to demonstrate how open data / information can be used in creative ways to solve real problems.

If you are a current college or university student (or have graduated within the last two years), and have ever used any open data from open.canada.ca then you are eligible to participate.

We challenge you to share your work with the global open government community!

Four winners will be selected to attend and participate in the Open Government Partnership Global Summit in Ottawa from May 29 to 31, 2019.

Deadline for submission is March 31, 2019 at 11:59PM EST.

For more information about the challenge, including how you can participate, please visit the Open Canada website. You'll find more details about eligibility and prizes, as well as examples of projects.

Online information sessions will be held on , from to EST in English and from to EST in French to answer any and all of your questions. Please be sure to register in advance.
