One Item, Five Fashionable Ways: Five Striped Wrap Skirt Outfits

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

Wrap Skirt Outfits For this week’s One Item, Five Fashionable Ways, I chose this piece from J.Crew to make wrap skirt outfits.  I like this skirt because it is not only summery and fun but a great way to show how a patterns can be treated like a solid.   It’s also an easy skirt that can go from weekend to a casual work look with only a few changes, which I will show you below.

Whenever I write these blog posts, I always try to think as realistically as possible about a woman’s closet and clothing needs, which is why I often repeat pieces in more than one outfit that I showcase in one blog post and also pull pieces from week’s prior of this series.  Sure, we’d all love to have unlimited clothing options to choose from in our closets, but that would not only be expensive but incredibly impractical.

Okay, not on to the looks showing five different ways you can wear this skirt!  For shopping information on the pieces styled with this skirt, simply click the images below.

For casual, I liked a simple white t-shirt with pops of pink.  Easy, no fuss, yet still finished looking.

For a more casual work environment, this skirt can go from the weekend to work.  I swapped out an flat sandal for a wedge and brought in mint and royal blue, two colors I love together.  The earrings and bracelet tie these two colors together.   What I like about royal blue is that is works with black where navy doesn’t.

For a softer work look, I took this outfit in a totally different direction than the look above and paired it with a blush colored flat and green purse in a more organic shade.  The flats are my favorite and the most comfortable flats I own, the Ellen by Vince Camuto.

Wearing black with this skirt is an obvious no-brainer, yet, I still wanted to add some pop with a bright blazer.  In this case, any blazer or cardigan color will work.

Bring this skirt back to casual, it shows why it is important to keep your wardrobe lean, mean and focused.  Using a coral t-shirt, I can now use the same bag that I used in look #1.  In order to maximize the use of what you own, you have to shop purposefully and think about what you already own before you bring more in, especially when it comes to novelty items.  The more you do this the more you can get out of what you buy.
