One Item, Five Fashionable Ways: Five Mint Green Maxi Dress Outfits

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

Mint Green Maxi DressesWelcome to another week of One Item, Five Fashionable Ways. This week, I’m featuring this easy mint green maxi dress from ModCloth.com.  If you’re not familiar with this online retailer, what started out as a gift for thrifting quickly transformed into the vintage inspiration behind retro e-boutique ModCloth.  ModCloth is best known for its innovative social shopping experience with unique opportunities like the Be the Buyer program to the Make the Cut and Name It & Win It contests, their customers have a voice in everything they do, right down to the naming, sourcing, and designing of their clothing.  Wow, it sounds like they’re listening to their customers!  How novel!

I chose this dress for this week’s post because summer is the time many embrace the maxi dress.  Mint green was chosen because it’s a color that is so popular, yet, a lot of women feel confused about how to wear.  With the goal of this series being to show you five ways to wear one piece in your wardrobe, featuring this seemed like the perfect forum to showcase a dress in this color.

If you can’t wear a maxi, no worries, there are plenty of mint green dresses out there in a variety of lengths.  Plus, you can Shop ModCloth for other delightful styles.   Okay, now on to the looks.  For shopping information, you can click the images below.

For a fresh and clean look that has a minty clean flavor, the first outfit is styled simply with gold accessories and the same white handbag that was used in last week’s post in this series.  Remember, the goal of these posts is to also show you how you can maximize everything in your wardrobe, so I often like to pull things that I have used in previous weeks.

A color that I love with mint green is royal blue.  The two colors work together beautifully and the depth of the royal grounds the lightness of the green.  This is particularly helpful if you look better in bolder colors.  With a royal blue belt and accessories, versatile gold wedges and a fun multi-colored sequin bag, this outfit is much bolder in comparison to the softer look above.

A shaped denim jacket is a great piece to have on hand if you want to make a maxi dress more casual.  Look for a denim jacket with shape and isn’t longer than your pelvic bones.  In addition, the denim works well with the mint green maxi dress.  I added a mint and denim scarf, for a bit of a bohemian look, used the same gold sandals from the first look and popped the outfit in an unexpected way with a coral handbag, which I’ve used in past posts in this series.  Finally, this amazing necklace brings the look together and further adds to the edginess of the outfit.

For something a bit dressier, I belted the dress with a skinny gold chain belt, added a multi-color clutch that not only picks up the mint but introduces complementary colors.  I then used those colors to add some accents pops  Lastly, the cardigan: for a elegant finish, a draped cardigan in white is a great summery piece to have on hand.

For a super casual look, I chose a yellow pair of flip flops and this fun shopper that picks up the mint green and the yellow, plus some more colors.  With a colorful necklace, easy bangles and a sun hat, this outfit is complete.
