On My Radar: Saddle Bags

By Unefemme @DejaPseu

fall saddle bags, fall bag trends

Now that I’m working from home, when I do go out I rarely feel the need to carry a larger bag. My usual on-the-go load is a wallet, phone, keys, a pair of sunglasses, a lipstick or balm, and a small travel-sized hand lotion. A smaller to medium-sized cross-body or saddle bag handles all that nicely.

Saddle bags are a classic style, but with the continuing popularity of 70’s and Boho-inspired looks they are also very much on-trend. Though I’ve seen a wide range of shapes on retailers’ websites described as “saddle bags,” my definition usually includes rounded corners, shoulder/cross-body strap, and often a flap closure. You’ll find lots of options now, in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors, and something to suit almost every taste. The softer, slouchy styles read as more casual. And if your style is a bit more polished or tailored, look for a more structured shape or one with squared corners. I prefer straps that are adjustable, so you can wear either over one shoulder or cross-body.

On a related topic, I believe that it’s never too early to start looking forward to fall… and I’ve updated my SHOP page with some summer-to-fall transitional season pieces. Come have a look!

SADDLE UP…
