O.J. SIMPSON PAROLE HEARING ATTRACTS $13 MILLION VIEWERS + THE RETIRED NFL PLAYER HAS BEEN MOVED OUT OF GENERAL POPULATION

Nearly 13 million people tuned in to watch O.J. Simpson get paroled after being in jail  for the last 9 years for armed robbery.

According to reports, CBS clocked the biggest crowd from 1-3 PM ET: 3.1 million viewers – 748K of them in the news demographic. Another 2.3M tuned in to ABC, including 544K 25-54 year olds. NBC logged 1.9M viewers including 548K news-demo viewers, and Fox stations logged another 1.3M with 478K in the demo.

Fox news logged 1.738M viewers including 332K in the demo. CNN beat FNC in the demo (347K) and averaged 1.126M viewers in total. MSNBC contributed 961K total viewers; 199K of them in the news age bracket.

After being granted parole, The Lovelock Correctional Facility, decided to move Simpson out of the general population and placed in a separate area of the prison, to keep him safe.

We have to keep him safe for two more months,’ spokesperson Brooke Keast told ABC News.

‘Normally we monitor what is seen by the inmates on their televisions — if it’s something to do with a particular inmate, we don’t want everybody else to know necessarily … it’s all about keeping order.’

She explained

‘The inmates inside … they’re all felons, there are those that are in there for life, that really have nothing to lose,’ said Keast.

‘Now to make a name of themselves, they may think of doing something, acting out against inmate Simpson. We just can’t have that.’

She then added: ‘For us, it’s important that he [leaves the prison] safe and healthy, and everything goes smoothly for those next two months.’
