Oh! Splendid Sausage

By Prettyandtasty1 @prettyandtasty
Move over burgers, Manchester is now welcoming the hype around sausages!
With all the talk and the hype all over Twitter, I thought I give Splendid Sausage a try just before heading to the cinema and to my surprise I was so full I just couldn't bare to order popcorn or ice cream later on at the cinema.
Taking over Jack Spratt a few months ago the owners behind Splendid Sausage have done pretty well, making the small casual restaurant a place people can pop in to for a quick lunch break or a quick pit stop before a night out. The menu is also quite simple, you can choose from classic sausages with a choice of 2 toppings or go for the combos which are piled up with the best topping combinations. There are also a small number of sides too such as chilli cheese fries, naked fries or home made slaw.
Here's a quick snapshot of what we had:
Hard pink lemonade £6.50 - vodka, lemonade and a sprinkle of glitter. A nice girly drink with strong vodka, looks pretty in a jar plus you get a sweet treat for after .

We went for two of the combo sausages (sorry we just couldn't resist the scrummy toppings).
Mighty meaty £8 - the splendid sausage topped with chicken bites, bacon, fried onions and BBQ sauce.
I loved the chicken bites, it did really make this combo mighty! However, the splendid sausage itself was a bit bland and could have done with a bit more seasoning. But the BBQ sauce smothered on top was spot on and maybe it was missing some cheese!

Mexican £8 - the Spanish sausage topped with three cheese mix, peppers, lettuce, chillies, guacamole and crushed nachos.
I have a thing for Mexican food so this combo was perfect for me, I was expecting a lot of flavor and powerful heat but this combo did not deliver. The combinations of topping were great but the sausage itself was not hot or smokey enough to be classed as 'Spanish'.
Even with the freshly topped chillies, it didn't put my mouth on fire. Maybe jalepenoes would have been better. It could have done with some extra sauce too.

Sides - Chilli cheese fries £4 and splendid slaw £2
Yummy BBQ-luscious chilli and cheese on the fries. The slaw was fresh, strong in  mustard taste and it was creamy and crunchy.
