NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm
Hi friends!
Today, I'll be reviewing NYC's Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm, which I received in my Spring VoxBox from Influenster.
Now, aside from the NYC bronzer in Sunny (which I love!), I haven't really tried anything else from this brand because their packaging always turns me off - it  reminds me of those makeup for little kids to play with. Unfortunately, I still feel the same way with the packaging of this lip balm. Honestly, if I saw these in stores, I probably would have just walked passed it; however, since it was provided in my VoxBox, I figured that I ought to give it a try.

Its claims are pretty basic for a colored lip balm - it's suppose to "deliver color, moisture, and shine in one single swipe". Aside from the "single swipe" claim, it actually does all of that (it took me a few swipes to see a noticeable color on my lips, but my lips are also naturally darker). According to the website, there are 10 color variations; the one I received was #356 in Big Apple Red.
This lip balm is creamy, smooth, and moisturizing - extremely comfortable to apply and wear! It adds a nice hint of color to the lips and the glossy-finish will make your lips appear nice and plump. As I've only tried this one color, I can't really speak for how pigmented the other shades are, but Big Apple Red does provide a nice, sheer, red-tint to my lips. Unfortunately, the glossy shine and the color does not last for a very long time, but your lips will still feel moisturized and will continue to show a slight tint of color (just not as noticeable as when you first applied it).
This lip balm also has a relatively strong scent and taste. I really enjoy the scent of this lip balm - very fruity and similar to what apple-flavored candy smells like, but the taste, on the other hand, I could do without. When I first applied this lip balm, I didn't really taste anything, but as I started reapplying throughout the day, it started to taste more and more like soap.  Eeek!
NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip BalmOverall, I would rate this 3.5 out of 5. I really do enjoy this product and I love how it looks when you first apply it on the lips, but it fades way too quickly! I understand that lip balms generally do not last for a long time, but I hate the fact that when I reapply I start tasting soap (blech!). As of now, I'm not really sure if I want to purchase any of the other colors because the whole soap-like taste is pretty much a deal breaker for me, but I am curious to see if this is an issue with all of them or just this particular color.
I guess the only way to find out is to pick up a different color and give it another test run...I'll keep you guys updated!
