-- Monopoly is derived from The Landlord's Game created by Elizabeth Magie in the United States in 1903 as a way to demonstrate an economy which rewards wealth creation is better than one where monopolists work under few constraints, and to promote the economic theories of Henry George — in particular his ideas about taxation. It was first published by Parker Brothers in 1935. The game is named after the economic concept of monopoly — the domination of a market by a single entity. It is now owned and produced by the American game and toy company Hasbro.

Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day
- Since soda drinkers usually have their favorite sodas and don't usually stray away from it, maybe we can take this day to try a carbonated, caffeinated beverage that we've never tried or maybe one we haven't had in years.
World Toilet Day
- A day to celebrate the importance of sanitation and raise awareness for the 2.6 billion people (nearly half of the world's population) who don't have access to toilets and proper sanitation.
Have a Bad Day, Day
- For those who are filled with revulsion at being told endlessly to have a nice day, this day is a brief respite. Store and business owners are to ask workers to tell customers to have a bad day.
Little Red-Haired Girl First Appearance (1962)
- an unseen character in the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, and is a symbol of unrequited love. While never seen in the strip, she appears onscreen in several television specials. Her name is sometimes cited in these as Heather. She serves as the object of Charlie Brown's desire.
Gettysburg Address Delivered (1863)
- In 1863, 17 acres of the battlefield at Gettysburg, PA, were dedicated as a national cemetery. Noted orator Edward Everett spoke for two hours; the address Lincoln delivered in less than two minutes was later recognized as one of the most eloquent of the English language. Five manuscript copies in Lincoln's hand survive, including the rough draft begun in ink at the executive mansion at Washington and concluded in pencil at Gettysburg on the morning of the dedication (kept at the Library of Congress).
First Automatic Toll Collection Machine (1940)
- At the Union Toll Plaza on New Jersey's Garden State Parkway, motorists dropped 25 cents into a wire mesh hopper and a green light would flash. The first modern toll road was the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which opened in 1940.
Rocky and His Friends TV Premiere (1959)
- This popular cartoon premiered in 1959, and featured the adventures of a talking squirrel, Rocky (Rocket J. Squirrel), and his friend Bull-winkle, a flaky moose. The tongue-in-cheek dialog contrasted with the simple plots in which Rocky and Bullwinkle tangled with Russian bad guys Boris Badenov and Natasha (who worked for Mr Big).
Suffragists' Voting Attempt (1868)
- Testing the wording of the 14th Amendment stipulating no State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States,172 New Jersey suffragists, including four black women, attempted to vote in the presidential election in 1868. Denied, they cast their votes instead into a women's ballot box overseen by 84-year-old Quaker Margaret Pryer.
