Nostalgic Memories

Posted on the 05 October 2021 by Latoya @latoyallawrence

I was born in the 1970’s. It was a different time then. I had a lot of fun growing up during the early eighties.

My mother had an even better time in her years growing up before me. She was born and raised in Manhattan until our family moved to Queens while she was still a youngster.

The days of sunlight was better, the atmosphere and effervescence were better, the music was better, the movies were better, the people were better, and so on, compared to what is going on now.

Every century, decade, and generation have its ups and downs, positives and negatives, setbacks and moves forward within society.

I am glad I had a taste of what life was like back then.

The early nineties were good too. Everything in the world seemed to go downhill in 1999, especially into the year 2000.

I have many fond memories of visiting my great-grandmother’s Manhattan Brownstone during the 80’s.

Before that, she lived directly across the street in an even fancier apartment that she loved with French doors, however, I was not yet born to experience the beauty and comfort of her home for myself.

From the Brownstone, up one of the blocks, was Amsterdam Avenue that led to Broadway.

There was a great view outside her large ceiling tall windows. We watched the activity of people, busy traffic, and the lively street scene of Manhattan.

There are photos that recapture those precious moments and more of a time that was once enjoyed and forever treasured.
