Last week, I attended the Nicole by Nicole Miller Event at JCPenney where the designer HERSELF and Adam Moon, Fashion Director for JCP,  were there to talk about the her latest holiday collection and trends for the upcoming Fall/Winter Season.  It was a fun night and I got to see blogger babes Ashley and Brooke, meet some new Chictopia friends, and interview Nicole Miller!  *aahh*

Adam and Nicole hosted a fashion presentation showcasing her latest holiday collection.  My fave… the JUMPSUIT obviously {find in stores or the sleeveless here}!  My second fave were the crop top and pleather pencil skirt.  And OF COURSE, I loved the fur vest {available in stores} and the moto jacket.  They finished with a quick Q&A session and then it was time for our individual interviews!  We left after drinks and bites with a fab swag bag.

Here are the details of my 5 minutes with Nicole Miller!

What was your proudest moment as a designer?

It had to be when I had my first runway show and when Christy Turlington was on the cover on Women’s Wear Daily wearing one of my pieces.  They did a whole spread.  {I did some digging and found this cover pic from 1990!!}

Did you have a muse in mind when creating this collection for nicole by Nicole Miller?

No, I didn’t have a particular muse in mind.  It came from many different inspirations – Alfred Hitchcock with the birds print, the winter florals and plaid were from my past runway looks.

What is your fave piece from the nicole by Nicole Miller collection?

The red aztec burn out dress and the pleather jacket – it looks like real leather.

Would you share a secret about yourself?

Everyone also asks if I’m a real red head!  I am!

During the Q&A session with Adam and Nicole, there were some great questions asked by the audience.

How would you dress up the LBD?  Adding a pop of color with a handbag can really make you stand out.

Which is a must-have piece?  Nicole picked the pleather moto jacket.  {Hooray, I picked that!}  Adam picked the jumpsuit.  {Another fave of mine!}

What trend would you NOT do?!  That was a hard one, and both Adam and Nicole said that people are making their own rules for dressing so there isn’t much that you should “avoid”.

// Can you see the top of my bag peeking with a leopard scarf tied around the handle?  My mother gave that to me after college graduation {in 1998!}.  It’s a Nicole Miller scarf and one of my first designer pieces! //
