An application for internal alterations has been submitted to Glasgow planning department by JD Wetherspoon.

The Waverley Tea Room served Shawlands since 2006 and closed suddenly in 2018.

Originally this building was a cinema called the Waverley Picture House which opened on 25th December 1922. The building was taken over by ABC in September 1929 and re-named ABC in 1964. After closure in March 1973, the venue became a bingo club, then a snooker club. The G1 Group opened it as "Tusk" bar/nightclub/restaurant which opened as 'Tusk' around 2003.
