New York Fashion Week: A Recap of the FW2014 Menswear Collections

By Attireclub @attireclub

After Milan and Paris, it was New York’s turn to host a series of fashion shows, as New York Fashion Week took place during the last days. The most famous American fashion week showcased the fall-winter collections of some very well known designers, but it also made the world acquainted with amazing new designers and, of course, models.

Black Sail proposed voluminous shapes that offer the wearer comfort and warmth. Their collection consisted of stylish active wear.

In terms of the atmosphere expressed by the designs, the artists who presented their creations in the city that never sleeps seemed choose to showcase sober clothes and to temperate the colors of their pieces. In terms of general trends, we could see a lot of clothes in cool colors, such as brown, blue, teal and a lot neutrals: black, gray, khaki, etc. The fabrics were generally clear, the cuts were sharp and only here and there could we see a mixture of patterns or fabrics.

It seems that the battle between well-tailored suits and very large pieces continued, as some designers still proposed over-sized clothes while others made clear statements that well-fitting clothes are next fall’s must-have! We made a selection of our favorite looks from NYFW and will showcase it in the gallery. Our criteria were the following: the pieces should be wearable, masculine, creative and very modern, even if they are based on classic pieces. These are the things we believe the clothes owned by any man should be.

We really liked the Beyond Closet collection and well as the En Noir show. They were very bold and full of personality, but the Hvrminn and Pyer Moss designs didn’t fall short either.

It looks like the Big Apple has a lot to offer. The new creations presented at NYFW are a great source of inspiration any man can use when he is either buying new clothes or putting an outfit together.
