I woke up this morning hot, sticky and a bunch of legs on me, kids’ legs. Did I mention the screaming baby wanting to be fed? Ahhh New Years day with kids. They were excited to start another day and I felt like a lizard had climbed into my mouth in the middle of the night and died. Happy New Year!
We brought in the New Year with a bunch of great people. Including us there were 13 adults and 5 kids onboard. It felt like some sort of bloggers convention, we had:

So what do you do on a boat to celebrate the New Year? You do a dodgy countdown because no one really knows the real time and watch for the fireworks that are 10 miles away and behind a hill. You also drink painkillers, wine, beer, vodka, rum (from a cow hoof) and whatever else you can get your hands on. Set off flares and inflate a liferaft from the 70s and pray the coast guard doesn’t show up.
Then the fellas floated away. We hung back in the cockpit watching from afar as the drifted and played shadow puppets with a flashlight. Whether they’re 3 or 30, boys will be boys. They did earn their boy scout badges by paddling back with their 40+ year old oars.
At least if the Coast Guard got reports of a distressed yacht, flares and a life raft we wouldn't be the ones with a big orange raft tied off the back.
