New Saint Laurent Vermeil Jewelry Line

By Raymondleejewelers @raymondleejwlrs

The famous Parisian design house Saint Laurent has announced a unique new line of Vermeil jewelry. Saint Laurent, now led by creative director Hedi Slimane, describes the new collection as a “modernist collection of couture” jewelry. The new Saint Laurent vermeil collection is high quality 18K gold layered over sterling silver. The classy, modern collection of Laurent’s couture items is introduced with campaign images of Christopher Owens modeling the jewelry. Owens, the former lead singer of Girls, a rock band based in Los Angeles is Slimane’s personal friend and muse. Slimane himself shot the images for the new jewelry line’s introductory campaign.

The items are “moderately” priced compared to most couture jewelry. The prices for the rings in the new collection begin at $300. A gold and silver Deux Clous necklace can be purchased for $1,990. Appearing in both the men and women jewelry sections, it is an androgynous collection as is the campaign images of Saint Laurent Menswear modeled by Saskia de Brauw. Look for the unique unisex jewelry in Saint Laurent stores sometime after the new year, in January of 2013. Items can also be pre-ordered on the website YSL.com.

The House of Saint Laurent was founded by famous French designer Yves Saint Laurent. Saint Laurent began his career at age 21 as head designer of the House of Dior. Christian Dior himself chose Saint Laurent for the position shortly before his death from a massive heart attack in 1957. After many years as a highly successful fashion designer, Saint Laurent passed away in 1966.

We believe they both would have approved of the new Vermeil jewelry collection
