There is along traditon of artists painting in Pirate's Alley in the French Quarter in New Orleans. They were doing it when I was a kid here in the 1950s. Here are some of the current Pirate's Alley artists . You can also set up around the corner on Royal street, behind the St. Louis Cathedral. This video begins with brief look at Doreen Ketchen's excellent trad jazz band that plays a block away well within hearing.
