End made another round of markdowns and added some new things to their sale section last night. There are some surprisingly good deals, especially when you consider that some of their prices are already lower than what you’d pay in the US (mostly thanks to them discounting for VAT). With a new minimum of $800 for taxable imports, that makes overseas shopping pretty worry-free.
Among some of the more surprising finds, there are Inis Meain and SNS Herning sweaters starting at $115. Inis Meain’s linen crewnecks, for example, are just $119 (well below the $400+ you’d pay in the US). I wear mine with leather jackets on weekends. There’s also a good selection of Barbour jackets starting at $105, raw denim jeans for $89, and Buttero sneakers for just $115.
Some other things I like:
- Outerwear: Along with the Barbour selection mentioned above (which includes the Bedale and Beaufort for $200), End also has Belstaff Roadmasters, Nanamica Gore-Tex Cruisers, and Nigel Cabourn Surface jackets on sale. They’re on the pricier side of things, even on discount, but they could do double-duty as rain jackets. (I also like Nigel Cabourn’s Aircraft jacket, although the shorter style may be less suitable for wet weather conditions). Less expensive are Ami’s field jacket, LVC’s denim trucker, Beams’ mac, and Elka’s hooded raincoats.
- Knitwear: Again, Inis Meain and SNS Herning are very much worth a look (just size up on Inis Meain’s linen knits and anything from SNS Herning). I also like this LVC sweatshirt. Simple, but incredibly useful if you wear jeans.
- Shirts: Lots of affordable shirts from Gitman Vintage and Portuguese Flannels. For something a little more rugged, see RRL, Engineered Garments, and Levis Vintage Clothing.
- Jeans: I’ve been wearing Our Legacy’s First Cut a lot lately (on sale now for $89). It’s slightly roomier in the thighs than APC’s New Standards, but still has a good taper below the knee. For something a little more conservative, LVC’s 1947 501s is a good slim, straight-leg (you can read more about it in this post I wrote for Put This On). It’s on sale for $119.
- Shoes: Finally, lots of great shoes. Red Wing work boots for $245; Common Projects starting at $225 (I particularly like the b-ball high-tops); Buttero sneakers starting at $155; Yuketen’s heritage styles for about $300; Margiela sneakers for about $250; and Spalwart retro runners for $159. I’ve been wearing my Spalwart Marathon Lows with everything lately – chunky cardigans, field jackets, bombers, etc. For those, go true-to-size.
