New Jersey Professor Denies Stalin Had Killed Anyone

This is the outright drivel they’re teaching America’s college students.

On October 25, 2012, in an auditorium full of students at New Jersey’s Montclair State University (MSU), Dr. Grover C. Furr, a professor of English at MSU, called the claim that Soviet dictator Josef Stalin had killed 20, 30, or 40 million people, “bullshit.” He also said there’s no “proof” Stalin had committed any crimes and that it’s a “big lie” that “socialism is no good.”

In the video below, the first voice you’ll hear is that of a member of the audience. Furr is the balding man standing on the right, wearing a suit and a red (Red!) tie.

For this commie professor to say that Stalin hadn’t murdered anyone is so preposterous, it’s downright criminal. There is a wealth of testimony and literature on how murderous the Soviet Union and other communist states were and are. Two good examples are:

• The Black Book of Communism: An authoritative book authored by several European academics and edited by Stéphane Courtois, which documents a history of repressions, both political and civilian, by Communist states, including genocides, extrajudicial executions, deportations, and artificial famines. In the introduction, Courtois states that “Communist regimes… turned mass crime into a full-blown system of government,” with a worldwide death toll total of at least 94 million.

• The Gulag Archipelago: The 3-volume famous book by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn about the Soviet forced labor camp system, which relies on eyewitness testimony and primary research material, as well as the author’s own experiences as a prisoner in a gulag labor camp.

Professor of English at MSU Grover C. Furr

Grover Furr is Professor of English at Montclair State University. His specialty is medieval English literature. I don’t know how this man became a tenured full professor at MSU because, with one exception, all the books listed by Wikipedia as being authored or co-authored by Furr had been published by presses in Moscow, Russia. The one exception was published by Erythros Press and Media — a self-described “red” (i.e, communist) family-operated publisher.
