New Book Review Concept

By Alexxmomcat @MomCat_Reviews
Often reviewers overlook one of the most important parts of the book in their review, that part is the cover.  How often as readers (especially in the romance and paranormal romance genres) do we purchase a book because of the cover?  I know I have on many occasions done just that.  Have I been disappointed?  A few times.  Have I not bought a book because of the cover?  The answer to that is yes.  Now to be specific, the cover is both the back and the front cover.  Does the cover art connect with the description of the story on the back?  As a book buyer, reader, and reviewer I think that this is often an overlooked piece of the review.  Saying all that from this point on, MOM CAT'S reviews will incorporate this into her reviews with a separate rating for the cover art and story description as well.  A word to the wise though, it is important to remember that you can not always judge a book by its cover.  I have also read books and stories with covers I found unappealing but what was inside the cover was awesome.
Rainbow ratings for covers range from RED TO VIOLET the meanings are below.
Red - Regrettable. Rethink your cover. Stop!
Orange - Outlook dim. On the verge of losing your buyer.
Yellow - Yawn. Warning, needs some work.
Green - Go for it.
Blue - Baroque. Buy recommendation.
Indigo - Impressive! Innovative! Indicates hot reading ahead.
Violet - Very, very hot.
