Rook & Raven's 2014 exhibition schedule begins with a solo show by Nettie Wakefield, showcasing a series of Reverse Portraits in pencil.Graduating from Chelsea School of Art and Design, the skilled young artist has since devoted her time to challenging traditional portraiture by setting parallels between her sitter and the viewer themselves – facing each in the same direction.
These portraits conceal the face and yet reveal how potent a statement the back of a head can be: the beauty, the intrigue, the mystery.
