National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Is Open

Egypt's most famous mummies were recently honored with a procession to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. This is a spectacle event that is accompanied by fireworks, music and a cavalcade. Currently the kings and queens of Egypt have been housed at the 119-year-old Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Tahrir Square. Now, a new place of permanent display will present their stories for all to see.

The royal mummies will be moved in a first-of-its-kind event dubbed the " Pharaohs Golden Parade ". Imagine the sight of the royal procession with 22 mummies along the 9-kilometre journey from the Egyptian Museum to NMEC - certainly a unforgettable moment. Among the most legendary include Ramses II, regarded as the greatest, most celebrated and most powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom; Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most successful female pharaohs; and Thutmose III, known as the Napoleon of Egypt.

The 4th April the central exhibition hall will open, with the Mummies Room opening on April 18, 2021. The treasures of egypt have so many stories to share. The Grand Egyptian Museum will be among of the world's premier museums. Just imagine? There are over 50,000 artifacts, including, on display to the public for the first time ever, the entire collection of artifacts found in King Tutankhamun's tomb.
