For those who missed the news, Natalie Portman said ‘I Do’ to long term fiancé Benjamin Millepied on Saturday night in the Big Sur region of California. The couple exchanged vows in a Jewish ceremony at a private home facing the ocean. The wedding was a very private event with around 100 guests in attendance including their 14-month old baby, Aleph and close friends, Ivanka Trump and Macaulay Culkin.
As Portman is a private person, only a few details regarding the wedding have been publicized. The ceremony featured wildflowers native to the Big Sur coast instead of flowers being flown in for the ceremony. Also the reception menu was kept strictly vegetarian in accordance to the bride’s diet, instead of fish or steak rich menu.
Natalie wore a traditional white gown from Rodarte accompanied with a crown of white wildflowers in her hair. The groom wore a midnight blue tuxedo.
The 45-minute ceremony was planned and coordinated by LA-based wedding planners Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove. The wedding took place on a escarpment overseeing the beautiful ocean, under a rustic Jewish chuppah made of twigs.
The couple were wrapped in a tallits, a Jewish prayer shawl, throughout the ceremony, which concluded with Millepied smashing a glass to shouts of “Mazel Tov!” as a part of the custom.
The reception featuring a Klezmer band took place under a tent at the private residence. The newly married couple kicked off the dancing with Hora dance for 20-minute before the guests lifted them up in the chairs. Also the traditional wedding cake was replaced by French macaroons as opted by the couple.
When the ceremony came to a close around 2 a.m., the guests took home along with them packets of wildflower seeds as party favors with the word “Merci” inscribed on them.
The Oscar winning actress first met French dancer and choreographer, Millepied, 35, on the sets of ‘Black Swan’ in the year 2009. By December 2010, the couple got engaged when Benjamin gifted Natalie, 31 with a halo pave diamond engagement rings and announced they were expecting their first child.
