My Winter Essentials #1: Lip Care

By Behindtheseclosedeyes @theseclosedeyes
I wanted to start a little winter essentials series on the blog now that we're into November and the winter weather is definitely here. The temperature has gone below zero so many times already and the winter coats are well and truly out of hiding now, so it's only right that it's time to get ready for winter in terms of lip care, skincare, bodycare and some other little winter essentials that don't really fit into a category. The first installment of the series includes my lip care essentials during the winter months as the cold weather can really take its toll on your lips. Dry and cracked lips are never a good look and they can be sore too, so anything that can keep this under control is a winner in my eyes. I really couldn't be without lip scrubs and lip balms during the winter months, and the following products are my current favourites.

One of the key things for keeping your lips smooth is to make sure that dry and cracked patches are buffed away with an exfoliator. My lip scrub of choice this winter has been the Lush Santa's Lip Scrub* which does a great job of smoothing the surface of your lips before moisturising, and it also smells of cola which is an added bonus. In terms of keeping my lips hydrated, I like to use a very rich lip balm at night and a lighter balm for use during the day when I'm out and about. One of the last things in my evening skincare routine is to apply a rich lip balm and my absolute favorite has to the the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm which is so moisturising and also smells of chocolate orange which makes me love it even more. The thicker lip balm means I'm left with super soft lips when I wake up in the morning but I still need to apply a  lighter balm if I'm out and about in the cold weather. I can't go anywhere without my Maybelline Baby Lips in Intense Care as it's so quick and easy to apply and keeps my lips nice and hydrated during the day.
I'd love to know what your winter essentials are when it comes to lip care!
