My Thoughts On: Pressed Powder Application

By Behindtheseclosedeyes @theseclosedeyes
Now I don't know about anyone else but I've found that in the past few weeks my face has become a LOT more oily and of course this means a shiny face to deal with. I'm not sure if it has been brought on due to my 'intensive' moisturiser as I was never one to suffer from oily skin, instead sitting on the complete opposite side of the spectrum with extremely dry skin. Cue my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, an un-named powder brush, and some optimism. Previously the actual application process of pressed powder consisted of light brushes of the powder against the skin as instructed by what seemed like the majority of people at the time, however lately this just doesn't seem to be working as well as it should. Increasingly oily skin has resulted in foundation slipping and sliding all over the place and to be honest it just isn't a good look at all, so a change was in order.
My thoughts on: pressed powder application
For the past few weeks I have ditched the light sweeping movements previously used to dust the face with powder, and instead opted for more of a buffing motion which I can safely say has dramatically helped the longevity of foundation and reduced the not-so-nice shiny face look. When dealing with powders, cakey and pore enhancing finishes can be an issue but I've found that this problem doesn't crop up when using Rimmel Stay Matte and the more 'aggressive' buffing motion. All in all I'm happy that I have switched from light to more concentrated application and would recommend it for anyone who is dealing with super oily skin at the moment. Of course the overall finish will vary depending on which pressed powder you currently use but I would always recommend Stay Matte for a natural finish if you are on the lookout for a pressed powder.
