My June 2016 Favorites and Some Flops

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
I know I say this every month, but I can't believe July is already here. I swear the years go by faster and faster as you get older. July is also a very hard month for me, so I also get a little frustrated when it gets here now. But we are here to talk about some awesome beauty products that I loved last month, and I am still obsessed with right now. So lets get started.
June 2016 Beauty Favorites
First and foremost are two eyeshadow palettes: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette and the Violet Voss x Laura Lee Palette. Between these two, I don't really ever need another palette ever again. The Modern Renaissance palette is so pigmented and easy to work with. The same goes for the Violet Voss x Laura Lee Palette. I love both, but I do feel that the mattes in the ABH palette are better. Either way, these are amazing. If I had to tell you to buy one right now, it would be the Violet Voss one just for the simple fact that it is limited edition and the ABH one is permanent. I have heard a few people complain about the Violet Voss x Laura Lee palette (the mattes in particular) and I don't get why. I have had no issues with the palette whatsoever. The mattes may not swatch that great, but once applied on the eye, they work amazingly well.

I've heard so many people talk about the Milani Eyeshadow Primer and I finally got it for myself. Now I see why so many rave about it. It is just as good if not better than higher end primers. My shadow doesn't budge or crease at all. It applies easily, dries quickly, it isn't thick or sticky. It is a great budget friendly product.
It is rare that I find a mattifying foundation that actually works, let alone a BB cream. But Cover Girl's new Clean Matte BB Cream is amazing. It has good coverage and it does stay matte throughout the day. It is non-comedogenic and won't cause breakouts. Even better.

I bought most of Maybelline's new releases and so far I haven't been impressed, even though everyone else seems to be. But their Loaded Bolds lipsticks are on a completely different level from everything else. They are outstanding and by far one of the best lipstick formulations I have ever tried. They are creamy, pigmented, non-drying, long lasting, and the shade range is great. I have four so far and I need to get at least two more.  You can see my review here.

Two other lip products I love are Milani's lipstick in Nude Creme and NYX's Butter Gloss in Tiramisu. I love them not only by themselves, but worn together. It is the perfect nude lip for my skin tone.
I also have a nail polish favorite this month, which is a little shocking. Sinful Colors and Kylie Jenner have done some amazing collaborations. The Denim and Bling Collection is no exception, but my favorite color by far is Kameleon. I'll admit that the formula is a little bit of a pain, but if you are patient, the end result is very well worth it. Kameleon is a unique metallic duochrome with shifts of teal, green, and gold. When you wear this one, people will always ask what color is on your nails.

I have put off buying Laura Geller's Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator for the longest time. I finally caved and got Charming Pink, which is gorgeous! The texture is smooth and butter, and it gives you a gorgeous glow without being too over the top.

My last favorite of the month is a product that I talked about a long time ago, and that is the Coty Airspun Powder. This is a fantastic, budget friendly setting powder. It is translucent and they have a few different varieties. The one I use is Extra Coverage, which makes your skin look flawless and keeps your foundation in place. Just be careful. In can be cakey if you apply too much.

And now for the flops. I know a lot of people out there love these two products, but I am just not impressed. The first one is Too Faced's Mascara Melt Off. It just doesn't do anything. My Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and Derma E Makeup Remover work a thousand times better. And I don't have to let them sit on my lashes for two minutes to be only semi-effective. The directions say to leave it on for 60 seconds, but that didn't do anything for me. And maybe it is the mascara I use. I just know I returned it pretty soon after purchasing it. I will say that it didn't cloud my vision like a lot of cleansing oils do.
The second flop for me are the new Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chromes in Gilded Rose and Beige Luster. I don't get why people love these. I have smooth lids, and they look so crepey on me. Plus they aren't as metallic as I hoped and the formula is a mess to work with. You can't blend them out because all of the pigment will go away and I cannot stand just haphazardly slapping on some cream shadow without cleaning it up a little bit.  They just look messy and sloppy no matter what I do. My mom actually told me it looked like a 4 year old did my makeup while testing them out.

I will have a review up of the Maybelline Eye Chromes later this week and I will be updating my post on the Loaded Bolds lipstick because I picked up another shade. See you soon and Happy 4th of July!
