My First Pointe Shoes | Haul
Hi Pixies! This has been a post that I've been meaning to write for quite a while now and I've finally gotten to it after much faffing around. As It's September and the  "Back To School" buzz is everywhere I thought that this might tie into that theme quite nicely. As I've finished my school years and graduated from College a few years ago the only thing that I'm going back to this month is Ballet class, and as I didn't want to be left out I thought that this post would do nicely.
For those of you that don't know, I used to take Ballet lessons until I was around ten/eleven or so years old and after a bit of an accident (I fell down some stairs and hurt my hip badly) I decided to quit and take the time to heal. Once I'd finished college I was a bit lost and looking for something to do and one day I was visiting my Uncle's Girlfriend and her eldest daughter returned from her Ballet class and then it hit me, why not take up Ballet again? I'd always enjoyed it and I'd missed out on learning to dance on Pointe. So I enrolled with one of my old dance teachers (who was lovely enough to let me join despite technically being older than the usual pupil) and now It's one and a half years later and I've finally ready to start taking Pointe classes.
Now, a quick word of advice for any of you out there who take Ballet. Never start Pointe until your teacher thinks that you're ready! otherwise you run the risk of damaging your feet for the rest of your life! I'm by no means a expert on all this but that's the most important bit of advice I can give you.  It's also good to have more than one shoe fitting, I was actually lucky enough to have a friend of mine, Lucy, who's been dancing for years help fit mine, so I trust her completely that she wouldn't mess up my feet (oh, and yes, she does work in a dance shop too so don't panic!) but I found that with just the one fitting I was a bit overwhelmed that wanted to go home, think it over then to go back and make a informed choice to make sure that I was happy with my shoes.
As you can see from the picture there are a few things that you'll need to buy to go with your new shoes, and yes, they are a must as they are essential in helping you stay as comfy as possible, and to be able to dance with wearing the shoes.
So with that I have my first lesson this week and I'm really looking forward to it and even though I know that my feet are going to absolutely be agony afterwards I think that it will defiantly be worth it in the end.
