My Favourite Intensive Hair Care

By Lotionsandpotions @LotionNPotion
Hello!
I'm actually going to talk about hair oils/serums instead of shampoos etc. which I'll save for another post.
I have pretty long hair, so keeping it soft and healthy is very important to me - it's also difficult. Long hair tends to split more easily and the ends can get very dry. This happened to me at the end of last year so I got really into finding the best products to make my hair look shiny and feel soft again. These are my favourites so far:
My Favourite Intensive Hair Care
From Left to Right: Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment, L'Oreal Professionnel (I know, weird spelling right?)Mythic Oil, The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum, Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask, Billy In The Tree Argan Oil
Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment:
This stuff is pretty damn good, particularly when used with the shampoo and conditioner that are also part of the Damage Remedy range. I really like the smell of these products, but some people won't as they're quite herbal. This is because Aveda only use plant derived ingredients where possible.
The instructions are to put it in your hair after shampooing and leave for 2-5 minutes, but I like to leave it on for longer (more like 10 minutes) before rinsing it out. I also like to comb it through before washing it out to make sure that all of my hair is being exposed to it's herby goodness!
L'Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil:
This is my absolute favourite! I actually think it's better than Moroccan Oil and it's a damn sight cheaper!
I got a free sample of this last year with Stylist Magazine and loved it so much that I got the full size bottle from Amazon. It was actually the first product I tried when my hair became dry last year and I haven't found anything that quite compares (including all the other products in the picture!).
The nourishing ingredients are grape seed oil and avocado oil and it smells so good. I was initially wary about trying an oil in my hair as I'm terrified of having greasy looking hair. However, this is so lightweight and gorgeous - it sinks into your hair perfectly, smells awesome and makes it so soft and shiny it's almost ridiculous! I could go on and on about the wonders of this oil all day - a workmate has decided that I should write their ad campaigns from now on because I love it so much and never shut up about it. Every time anyone mentions a hair woe my response is always 'Mythic Oil!'.
The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum:
I got this a few weeks ago as I've been so impressed with the effect of the grape seed oil in Mythic Oil that I wanted to try another grape seed product. I have been almost equally impressed with this serum!
It's thicker than the Mythic Oil as it's a serum, but it's cheaper and does almost as good a job at keeping my hair soft and keeping the split ends at bay. It also smells amazing - grapes, grapes, grapes. Lovely.
I now alternate each day between this and Mythic Oil, which is saying something because I have not been parted from the Mythic Oil since I got it!
Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask:
I got this free with a magazine months ago (I can't remember which one though - possibly GLAMOUR) and I've loved it. It's thick and creamy and smells really nice. It's got marshmallow and coconut oil in and smells sweet and coconutty and also kind of soapy. The tube says to leave the mask on for at least half an hour, but I like to leave it on overnight every 2 weeks as a real treat for my hair. I also do this with the Mythic Oil.
This really makes your hair softer - it doesn't do much for shine, but my hair always feels like velvet the next day.
Billy In The Tree Argan Oil:
I'm not sure why I included this one actually. I got it on Amazon as argan oil is the main ingredient of Moroccan Oil so I thought it's be good to use. However, I've not seen that this has any effect on my hair.
It is really good to use on your skin though - although it doesn't sink in quickly so you're not going to want to get dressed any time soon after applying it. I find the best use for it is to put it in my bath.
I really love the packaging of this product. The frosted glass bottle is lovely and it comes with a pipette so you can control exactly how much product you are using. The seller was also really good and sent the oil really quickly and it was packaged up safely.
Ok, so that's it! My favorite hair treatments/oils etc.
I hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful!
Grace
