My Favorite (Thrifted) Things

By Linsibrownson @CleverSpark

It’s officially Fall! And, even if it’s still a bit warm where you are, it’s time to clean out your closet and put your Fall wardrobe front-and-center.

I recently re-organized my closet, taking out most of my Summer clothes and storing them in the back of my closet so they’re not part of my wardrobe rotation. Doing this at least once a quarter helps keep not just your wardrobe – but your image – looking current (and not irrelevant or outdated).

Why is it important to stow away those Summer clothes? So you don’t end up wearing an outfit that screams “beach time!” when the leaves are turning and grocery stores are putting out their pumpkins. It’s all about context. So, until the heat lets up, think layers, baby.

As you probably know, almost 100% of my wardrobe is from local, Orange County Goodwill stores. It all started back a few years ago when I needed to spruce up my wardrobe, but didn’t have enough cash to shop South Coast Plaza. Determined to build a great selection of clothing, I took $50 and braved a busy and well-stocked Goodwill store. I was instantly hooked, quickly became a quality snob (no more fast-fashion for me!) and have been a thrift-shopper ever since.

Here are a few of my favorite (thrifted) things for Fall:

My Favorite (Thrifted) Things

One of my favorite Fall staples – corduroys.

I’m a cardiholic, for sure. Blue paisley cardigan from BR.

My Favorite (Thrifted) Things

Yes, I found an ivory silk blouse (in perfect condition) in a busy thrift store. I live for moments like that.

So mod (and you know how I love the 60s!). Definitely wearing this with tights and loafer pumps once the weather turns.

Do you want in on some thrifted wardrobe action? Lucky you, I’m hosting a shopping event October 25th in Costa Mesa. Click here for more details and to register.
