My 7 Links Project

It's a wonderful thing to be thought of kindly. So when two of my favorite bloggers Steve at "Oui, Chefand Heguiberto & Steven at weirdcombinations passed the torch over to me as part of the "My 7 Links Project", it was time to get working.

Because the way it works is that a blogger goes back through their archives and chooses 7 posts, or "links" from their past that satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Most beautiful post
  2. Most popular post
  3. Most controversial post
  4. Most helpful post
  5. Most "surprisingly successful" post
  6. Most neglected post
  7. and finally....the post that makes them most proud

The blogger then chooses 5 other bloggers to do the same, and so on, and so on.

What's the big idea?

It has been described as a way of “uniting bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again”.

Looking into my blogging past is a lot like looking back to my twenties - I do it with some joy, a lot of cringing and a great deal of "what I was thinking"?

Mostly because until I started scanning my past posts, I never realised how much I have learned these past 2 years blogging. There have been far too many 'nails-on-the -chalkboard' moments for me  as  I went through the blurry pics & numerous writings, and often sat back gobsmacked at what can only be described as 'my verbal vomit'.

But just like my twenties, I survived and am better for it.

So here goes, My 7 Links ~

1) My most beautiful post - Nothing to do with my photography skills here! Have you had that feeling where you know that your creativity right at that particular moment is  like the energizer bunny beating the drum and what you're doing right at that moment, is you at your very best? This is what this recipe means to me! It represents the very best of me.

It also is helps that is impossible to beat in its deliciousness!

2) My most popular post - I don't know what it is about ice cream that always makes it a hit! And I have to say that never in my close to 2 years of blogging has a post received more attention than this one - Mango, Saffron and Pistachio Ice cream which came as a complete surprise to me because does the world really need another mango ice cream recipe? Evidently it does!

3) My most controversial post - This one is no contest! Ready the title - 'nuf said!

4) My most helpful post - Undoubtedly, I have never made a recipe with more attention to detail than the 'Child meets Grausman' Boeuf Bourguignon post. If there ever was a recipe that I would beat my chest from the highest rooftop about because I can claim in no uncertain terms that the recipe will yield exceptional results, it's this one.

5) My post which was surprisingly successful - Hands down the winner in this category was raw fish! What??? That's what I thought too!  Never in a million years would I have guessed that my creative spin on traditional ceviche would have been welcomed with open arms and then some. And as much as we love this recipe in our family and is a constant when like-minded company is over, I never thought that it would gain accolades in spades. If you haven't already, you should give it a try.

6) My post that didn't get much attention - The early months were painful. I was bursting with all the delicious eats I wanted to share and there was no one out there listening (except for my mother). I was a fount of enthusiasm in a place that only time could overcome. And so many of what I think of my 'culinary gems' hit the pavement. And so for this link, I had to turn to the one recipe that is one of what I consider one of my 'best' and all but forgotten, no - more like didn't know it existed but in the depths of my heart and the archives of the blog.

7) The post I am most proud of is also one that I have worked the absolute hardest on. I still remember the two days before the dinner party that is posted here, I was up in the wee hours of the morning working on these recipes that are from traditional 14th century Mughlai cuisine from India and so unforgettable. By far one of the finest and most memorable feasts I have ever put together.
