Mumbai: Mouth-watering Good Food at DesiKlub, Nariman Point!

By Thetastingfork
Located inside Maker Chamber 5 that’s situated right in front of the makeshift mini fair in Nariman Point, that has those swings and rides decorated with lights, is DesiKlub. Coming from the makers of SpiceKlub, Quattroand Rolling Pin, DesiKlub is also based on the same concept- fusion food. The décor talks of Mumbai in every element of theirs, with huge life-size posters, chairs with areas of Mumbai written on them, cute cutlery and utensils in which the food is served, and a very lively colourful feel to it. The place is purely vegetarian, like all other restaurants under this bandwagon

Chitthi Aayi Hai

We tried their Taste Ka Kuan, Tu Cheese Badi Hain Mast Mast, Chitthi Aayi Hai and Paneer Roller Coaster in starters. All four were really delicious, but Chitthi Aayi Hai was my absolute favourite! It was a starter with rumali roti wrapped around paneer and topped with a superb waldorf salad! It was the perfect balance of the spiciness of the paneer and the sweetness of the salad.

Taste Ka Kuan

Taste Ka Kuan was another exceptional dish. Made in the form of a basket with the stuffing of potatoes found in a samosa, it was mixed with coriander chutney, saunth chutney, sweet curd, and topped with lots of sev, and pomegranate and coriander for garnishing. The dish was edible in all its entirety, with the basket serving as the exterior of a samosa. Oh my god, what delicious flavours!
Tu Cheese Badi Hai Mast Mast was paneer bhurji mixed with three kind of cheese and served on cheese crackers. Very delicious and a great job done with the mix of cheese in it. You could taste cheese in every bite. Paneer Roller Coaster was a treat to the taste buds like no other. Paneer with cheese, onions and coriander stuffed inside a thin coating of bread, and deep-fried to a crisp perfection. Served piping hot with a peri-peri dip, it simply melted in the mouth!!

Tu Cheese Badi Hai Mast Mast

For main course we tried the Rassedar Aloo Puri and Desi Burrito, and both these dishes were as good as the appetizers. The Aloo Poori was served in a cute little miniature rickshaw, with the curry being absolutely spot-on with spices and salt, and the thin crisp fluffy pooris being the perfect accompaniment! The Desi Burrito however was the dish that blew my mind away! The rice in the burrito were full of spice (not chilli), mixed with paneer tikka and served with 2 chutneys, chips and salad. Very filling and so good!

Jalebi Bai

For dessert we tried Jalebi Bai that was jalebis stacked one atop the other with a filling of kesar pista mousse in between. The jalebi was a little too sweet and not crisp, but it went well with the chilled mousse. The other dessert we tried was the Chocolate Thali. What a disappointment this was! Priced the most expensive out of all the desserts, this dessert had 7-8 different chocolate based desserts in it, and all were below average, maybe except the chocolate ice cream that was the only saving grace.

In drinks we tried their Masala Jeera, Peru and Kalingar and Litchi Rose Juice. Only the Masala Jeera was good in my opinion, the other two were too sweet.

With the food being spectacular, Desiklub only needs to get their drinks and desserts fixed. The desserts were also okay for a bite or two to end the meal on a sweet note, but nothing when compared to the amazing food we had before the desserts.
The prices are very affordable, the presentation is super cute, the staff is extremely courteous and helpful and the service of food is prompt too. A must must try place for all!Address: Maker Chamber 5, Jamanala Bajaj Road, Nariman Point, Mumbai 400021Timings: 12 Noon to 11 30PMContact: 022-22833558Disclaimer: The review was done on an invitation from the establishment.
