MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation
Few months back, I posted an update on my Facebook page saying that I’m trying different foundations now (and more makeup after I got married) so you would be seeing more of foundation reviews on the blog and I got a nice response from you all that you would be waiting to see me reviewing foundations. With every foundation I own, I first planned on using the MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation which I have in shade golden. Let’s move on to read every thing about this foundation.

My Take on MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation:

The MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation comes in a squeezable tube with a flip top cap, there’s a small nozzle upon screwing the cap which is accurate for squeezing out just the right amount. It does not have any noticeable fragrance and I think it is fragrance less. The foundation is liquid and I think it is water based. The texture is very light and does not at all feel heavy on skin.

The shade I got is golden which is a tad darker than my NC30-35 skin tone. I apply this foundation and my skin looks quite dark than my normal skin tone, it gives a sheer coverage but doesn’t look like I’m wearing anything except for the fact that it makes me look dark than my normal skin tone. I go on applying a second layer and the coverage seems to be higher than sheer, it seems to give more than sheer and upon building more it can give more than medium coverage without getting cakey or heavy. So the coverage is quite buildable and can be build up to full coverage. Though it makes a good coverage for me with 2 layers but still I feel the need to use a concealer to hide my dark circles and major blemishes.

The shade golden looks dark on me but the good thing is that it adjusts to my normal skin color within 30 minutes or even less which is just amazing, so I can wear it whenever I want 30 minutes before going somewhere and also a light shade compact balances out my skin tone. I wish I would have got a light shade for me then it would have been one of my favorite foundations because I quite like the coverage of it and also the finish and also the fact that it doesn’t look cakey or gets patchy on building up.

I apply the foundation with my fingers coz the formula is easier to work with fingers because of its liquid consistency, I feel brushes would soak up the foundation and won’t give a good finish and coverage how fingers can give. It blends smoothly and easily and absorbs into the skin like a cream or say a dream

it doesn’t get rough or patchy. The finish is semi matte and I think this is one such foundation which will work good for all skin types be it oily, dry or combination. It gives a semi matte finish and makes my skin glowing and flawless and doesn’t enhance my rough areas and also it doesn’t make me look shiny anywhere and keeps skin matte and fresh for up to 5 hours. Yes, the staying power is around 5 hours. I first applied this foundation when I was going out shopping in the evening, I applied it around 6 o’ clock and did my whole makeup, I came back home at 8 o’ clock looking all fresh. I saw myself in the mirror at 10 o’ clock and it was still looking the same, no hint of anything fading or my blemishes re-appearing, I then again stood in front of the mirror at 11 0′ clock and then again, my face looked the same. I was really amazed and impressed by it but then I got tired and washed my face off and couldn’t see for how long it kept my face fresh. It is a really good foundation with an affordable price tag, I wish it was available in India easily. The drawback could be with the shade match/selection with Indian skin tones and that it doesn’t work much on hiding the pores. As for the illuminating claims made by the product, I don’t see any illuminating particles or shimmers in this foundation, it comes without shimmer and does not highlight or illuminate the face as such. This can be a pro for many as not everyone likes shimmers in their products like me, I hate those shimmer or glitters left behind by many products!

  • Spreads and blends easily.

  • Fragrance less.
  • Doesn’t feel cakey or patchy.
  • Good for both dry and oily skin.
  • Gives a semi matte finish.
  • Very cheap in abroad.
  • Sturdy, travel friendly packaging.
  • Makes skin glowing.
  • Adjusts to my skin color even after being a darker shade than my skin tone.
  • A good option for dry skin as it looks pretty good on my dry skin without making it rough or more dry.
  • Lasts for up to 5-6 hours.

Cons of MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation:

  • Not available in India though can be found on some sites at a higher price!
  • Doesn’t hide blemishes and dark circles so a concealer has to be used to achieve the full coverage look.
  • Doesn’t have any illuminating properties as claimed by the product, can be a pro for who don’t want shimmers or glitters to highlight their flaws.
  • Only 3 shades available so not everyone will find their match.
  • Can be a little tricky for oily skin, the finish is semi matte so your skin can get a little oily after few hours though not sure about it!

BML Rating: 4/5 keeping the cons in mind though it’s a 4.5/5 for me.

Overall, I love this foundation but the tube got torn from the back, don’t know how but it did got torn

Thinking
and all the foundation got wasted by leaking out making all my makeup kit dirty and my hubby had to clean the whole kit while I was doing my makeup on our trip
Grin
He wanted to through it in anger saying that it’s useless and made all my kit dirty, silly he
Razz
he doesn’t even know how bloggers have to keep their products safe unless they review them, in fact he even threw the Oriflame concealer thinking that it was the culprit of the whole mess as it didn’t have its cap on it, thankfully I have already reviewed it and couldn’t say anything when he was throwing it!
If you can get your hands on this foundation, definitely get a shade that matches your skin tone. I think shade beige would suit Indian fair skin tone well and shade golden would suit medium to dusky skinned beauties and shade porcelain is for extra fair skin, so choose a shade according to your skin tone and get hold of this foundation if you can!
