Moving Home .... and Surprise Visitors

Moving Home .... and Surprise Visitors
The little broody house that Mother Goose and her two Lavender Pekin bantam chicks lived in for the first two weeks of their lives has now become too small, well for the chicks it was, and still is perfect but their Mum is a pretty big Hyline chicken and needed to be able to stretch her legs more than she was able to in there.

So on Monday we set to and erected the Eglu.  We had been using the house part of it in Chicken World for the layers to have an extra nesting box but the run was still packed away after our move.  After some searching we managed to find all the right fixtures and fittings, the mesh panels were easy to find and just needed a quick wash down, the little screws and clips were rather more elusive, but eventually I managed to find them 'hidden in plain sight' as is usually the case!!

They seem really happy in there now, Mother Goose set too immediately and built herself a dust bath, so we have a hole in the grass that the chicks keep sitting in, giving me heart stopping moments as I think they've vanished!!
In other news I had a surprise visit yesterday from the lovely Kim, a long time reader and commenter and her equally lovely husband Dave.  It was nice to chat about things here and in her world and discuss other bloggers we knew.  The dogs, and Ginger thought this unexpected visit was just brilliant and fussed around them, especially Mavis who can spot a dog lover at fifty paces and convert a non-dog lover at 10.
Lovely to meet you both, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday in Llandudno.
Sue xx
