Even though a few Republicans in Congress are having doubts about repealing the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), it looks like there will be enough to defund Obamacare through a budget reconciliation act. That would effectively kill the program -- even though the Republicans have nothing to replace it with.
But that's not what the general public in the United States wants. Only about 30% of the public wants Obamacare repealed (or defunded), while 12% want to keep it as it currently is and a majority of 56% want to keep the program and fix its flaws. That 68% that don't want it repealed know what a disaster repealing the program would be.
And these numbers are not from some left-leaning poll. It is from the Rasmussen Poll (which is normally very kind to the Republican Party). The poll was done on January 5th and 8th of a random national sample of 1,000 likely voters, and has a margin of error of 3 points.
Note that this is true of all groups shown, even Republicans (who have 46% wanting repeal and 52% opposing repeal).
