You will know from previous posts that we are big fans of the Early Reader range of books from Orion.  Little Mr A was delighted when three more arrived in the magic ‘post’ for him to read and review.

First up is Twit.  Written by Steve Cole and illustrated by Jane Porter, Twit is about the adventures of dim and raggedy owl, Twit.

Full Synopsis…

Twit is a raggedy little owl whose brothers love to play tricks on him. It gets him into all sorts of trouble! But that all changes when Twit meets Norma, a clever little vole. All of a sudden, Twit’s brothers had better watch out – Norma and Twit might just have a trick of their own to play…

Little Mr A really liked the look of this book and couldn’t wait to sit and read it.  He got through it in no time and found it really easy to read.  There were plenty of pictures in it to engage him but not too many that it distracted him from reading the book.

Next up is Horrid Henry’s Christmas Play.  Written by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross, this is yet another brilliant Horrid Henry story, all about how Henry making his role in the Christmas Play bigger!

Full synopsis…

Horrid Henry is desperate to be Joseph in the school Christmas Nativity play. The trouble is, Miss Battle-Axe has made him the inn-keeper. There’s only one thing for it – Henry’s got to make his own part BIGGER!

Little Mr A is really starting to enjoy the Horrid Henry books and loves the humor of them.  This one did not disappoint!  Again he found it easy to read by himself and loved the illustrations.

Finally we were sent another Horrid Henry book, this time a compendium called Horrid Henry’s Fearsome Four.

2013-11-02 09.03.57

This is a great book containing four fantastic Horrid Henry stories including Horrid Henry’s Birthday Party, Horrid Henry’s Underpants, Horrid Henry’s Nits and Horrid Henry and the Football Fiend.

This is a great book to dip in and out of and Little Mr A has loved reading all of the stories in the book.  I think it would make a great gift for any youngster who has just started being able to confidently read by themselves.  The humor is great and the illustrations are really funny.

We are loving adding to Little Mr A’s Early Reader collection!
