Monday: You and Me Have a Problem

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

Today has just not been my day.  And I really shouldn’t complain because I was lucky enough to be missed by all the tornado damage that hit my area this weekend, and I’m really more stressed than “upset” but still…  I had to both buyMonday: You and me have a problem gas and pay for a TB test which on their own wouldn’t be a big deal, but the fact that I had to do both in the same day makes my wallet sad.  Then I left my school jump drive in the computer lab after a workshop.  This jump drive has *everything* on it.  All my school papers, my education-technology portfolio (due tonight, of course), and all my ZCP contracts.  So, after realizing it was gone I had to drop everything and sprint back to the lab.  Luckily no one had stolen it. But now I’m tired and the adrenaline has built up my stress.  Good time for a blog break.

Speaking of ZCP contracts (awkward transition alert…) Today is ZCP Monday!  So go read the conclusion of Mark River’s Home, Hearth, and Hell.  It’ll make your day better!  (unless you and Monday get along, in which case…I hate you).

Monday: You and me have a problem
On a much more pleasant note.  I’ve been stacking up crafts on pinterest to work on over the summer and I’ve found one I really want to work on over spring break.  Which is next week!  Only 5 more days before I get a week-long break!  (yes, I realize this means I really have no reason to complain about anything with a week long break in sight).  These are probably the coolest, and easiest to put together, shelves I have ever seen and I am in desperate need of shelf space in my room.  I have so many books, DVDs, and cross stitch patterns they’re just all over the place.

This is the picture I found on Pinterest.  These are just those regular magazine/paper organizers you can find anywhere.  I’ve seen cheap ones at Target in all sorts of colors, they’re usually plastic though.  Basically what you do is get the magazine holder you want, paint and/or stain it (make them look pretty), turn them on their side, and then screw them into your wall.  So easy!  My goal is to get about four of these and put them in the useless corner space behind my door.  The door opens inward so I have all this extra space, but can’t use it for anything or the door won’t open.  These shelves, however, solve that problem perfectly.  They nest in the corner so you don’t lose space, but they don’t stick out so far as to interfere with the door opening and closing.  I’m really looking forward to giving these a whirl.  I might even try to make them look pretty and pain a design on them, but we’ll see.  My main goal is to get the shelves up and see how well they work.  Then I can always go back and pain a design on the top.

The person who posted this idea said you can get these shelves at Ikea, but like I said, I’ve seen them at Target and Michaels, you can probably get them cheap at Wal-Mart too.  Has anyone tried this idea before?  I think it’s so cool, I don’t know how it’s never occurred to me before.  Any suggestions for designs I could do?  I could wrap them with wrapping paper I guess, that’s something quick.  All the possibilities.  I’m in a better mood already.

Hope you’re all enjoying your Monday! Go do something crafty.
