Modi Twist: If Patel Were the First Pm...

In front of Prime Minister Manmohan Sing - Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that the country’s destiny would have been different if Sardar Patel had become country's first PM.

While speaking at a function to inaugurate a museum dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh praised his great personality. He quoted the cabinet resolution after Patel's death:
"A great Indian and an unmatched warrior in the course of freedom, a lover of India, a great servant of the people and a statesman of genius and mighty achievement."

In a vieled attack on Congress while sharing the dais with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi said:
“Every Indian still regrets that he (Patel) did not become the first Prime Minister. Had he been the first Prime Minister, the country’s destiny would have been different.”

Also, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in his speech, said, "Sardar Patel was a secular leader and I represent the same party that he belonged to."
