Modern Abstract Paintings: Les 3 Bleus De Joan Miró

By Yasoypintor @antoniobasso

Abstract Art by Joan Miró

I finally enjoyed three unique abstract paintings in the history of abstract art history.

They are the “three blues” of the great abstract painter Joan Miró. I’ve seen them in the anthology that is taking place in the Joan Miro Foundation in Barcelona. I recommend that all amateur  and abstract painting lovers, visit the exhibition because it is a wonder.

In this article I am going to speak of the sensations and surprises I felt when seeing these abstract paintings.

Not so much the history of them interests me the most. Joan Miró seems to show us the great sea (his painting had its origins in nature), and that he was influenced by American Abstract Expressionism.

I just want to tell you about the abstract paintings themselves. They are gigaaaaaantic, majestic and infinite (2.70 x 3.55cms). The main color is blue. But it is a very special blue. I advise you to go and see them as the color of the photos of this abstract and reductionist work differs from that you will see there. There you will also see the texture and atmosphere so well expressed.

When I saw them, a light colored my eyes, a spectacular infinite blue that does not leave you indifferent,  surrounds you. The power of color is stunning, almost 95% or more of the surface of the three tables is blue. Few abstract artists had ever dared to do something like this, but Joan Miró was different.

When you stand in front of them, you absorb the blue or you are absorved by it (I´m not sure), it attracts you, a deep sense of serenity seizes you. Look anywhere and you only see blue. The brushstroke is big and sometimes messy. Some small patches of color perfectly placed with naturality and lots of simplicity, give them tremendous power and significance. Are they stars, islands, suns, people, a comet … ..?

I don´t want to explain anything else. I invite you go there before March 2012, sit down in silencie in front , and then get back to this blog to share your feelings and impressions.

What are your thoughts about Joan Miró´s abstract art works?. Please comment at the end of this post.

Besides the above, tell you that I discovered a very interesting artist. As you know, one of the things that I’m trying in my recent abstract paintings is the concept of stress and TENSION.. If the topic interests you, I recommend you see the work of Gema Alava. Take a look at her works TENSION and TELL ME THE TRUTH. It’s simple and great the way she clearly represents tension. Do you fell the screw struggling?. It is Perfect!!!
