If you live in Australia then you'd know that Models Prefer is the range of cosmetics that has been developed by Priceline's beauty team, providing quality products for less. We recently had the opportunity to try out some of their products and today we're bringing you our thoughts on some of their lip products including the Moisture Lust Glossy Lipstick, Infinite Colour Lipstick and the Infinite Colour Lipglaze.
The Moisture Lust Glossy Lipstick is considered to be a shiny and protective lipstick that provides moisture, comfort and light coverage on the lips. I would agree with all those claims, as it does give off a shiny appearance and is very comfortable to wear. The pigmentation is pretty good for one swipe (as seen in .gif), and buildable. Salted Caramel doesn't look too bad when swatched, however on my lips it really doesn't flatter me. With my skin tone, it translates to make me look really washed out, despite the colour of the lipstick itself to be more like a light brown with some orange tones through it, however on other skintones it can be considered a nude. Colour aside, the formulation is one of the most hydrating formulas that I've tried, but it does just sit on top of your lips. I remember looking up product information for this and ended up coming across reviews stating that this formula was similar to the Revlon Lip Butters- I wouldn't really compare the two. Lip Butters are much more on the lipstick side, and there's less slip and slide after application, however this lipstick is more on lipgloss side, as the formula feels more 'watery'. Personally this kind of formula isn't for me, the texture is a little too thin and emollient to the point where it can be smudged easily.
The Infinite Colour Lipstick claims to be a long-wearing, water-resistant lipstick that provides a demi-matte or metallic finish. Tribal Rouge is a is a bright, true red with slight pink undertones and offers a matte finish. I quite like the texture of this; it easily glides across your lips and it doesn't accentuate flakeyness. One thing to note is that it does have that slight stickiness when you press your lips together. The pigmentation is pretty outstanding for a drugstore lipstick and the staying power is really impressive lasting 6+ hours . For the most part after eating and drinking, it remained just as bright as I had first applied it. There was rubbing off at the inner corners and inside the mouth but nothing too dramatic. I really quite enjoy the formula of this lipstick and how it feels on my lips. If you're someone who enjoys moisturising or hydrating lipsticks, but would want to try out matte formulas without compromising on the level of comfort, then this is the one to try. The lipstick "bullet" is also smaller and I find that it eliminates the need to use a lipbrush separately to create the really polished and defined look.
Lipglosses aren't usually something I really steer towards when it comes to lip products, but I was pleasantly surprised when this lipgloss had exceeded my expectations of what would be a sticky mess. Unlike previous lipglosses that I have tried (keep in mind this was probably more than 4 years ago), the Infinite Colour Lipglaze was not sticky and the formula didn't feel 'heavy'. The shimmer particles Fairy Dust can be noticeably gritty when you rub your lips together, however upon application it isn't something you'd notice straightaway. For me, you can see how I had unevenly colour distribution on the left, but the lipgloss gave me a nice glaze and a light wash of colour to even out everything. I can see myself using this lipgloss if I want something to tone down a heavy eye look.
Observing the swatches, Salted Caramel definitely comes off more like a light brown/orange nude colour, however it just doesn't translate the same onto my lips. The shine is fairly apparent in this swatch, especially when you compare it to the lipgloss, which has a traditional glossy finish. Tribal Rouge and Fairy Dust on the other hand both are fairly true to the the swatches. Tribal Rouge comes off as a true red, but on the lips is not as bright and 'loud' and Fairy Dust is more of a light pink with iridescent shimmers.
Overall, these are very affordable, accessible and perform an average of 4/5. I personally have my eyes on the Infinite Colour Lipstick in Forbidden Love and Secret Affair as the formulation really ticks my boxes! The Moisture Lust Glossy Lipstick and the Infinite Colour Lipstick both retail for $11.99, and the Infinite Colour Lipglaze retails for $13.99- something to keep in mind for Priceline's next 40% off sale ;)
