This is an exciting one for me today as the postman delivered what I can only describe as pastel heaven in a box. The Models Own Fruit Pastel Collection is one that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it the other week and there were no doubts that I had to have it in my life before we hit spring and summer. The collection is made up of 5 gorgeous pastel shades which were right up my street, and the big difference is that these beauties are scented. You'll know that I'm a bit of a nail polish junkie but the one thing that I can't stand is the smell, however this collection of polishes takes care of that. The shades are..
Banana Split: a very pretty lemon shade which is very similar to Models Own Lemon Meringue, with Banana split being a tad lighter. Although it's quite annoying that the shades are so similar, I don't mind too much as my bottle of Lemon Meringue has been given plenty of love over the past year so it's probably about time that it was replaced anyway.
Apple Pie: a beautiful mint green which is a pretty similar shade to Essie's Mint Candy Apple, although slightly on the lighter side again. It's a bright enough mint shade to stand out during the spring and summer months but still subtle enough to keep pastel lovers like me very happy.
Blueberry Muffin: a gorgeous pastel sky blue shade which has quickly become my favorite out of the bunch. I don't have any other shades that are very comparable to Blueberry Muffin, with the closest match being Models Own Blooboo which is a much brighter yellow-toned blue. I think that this shade will look so pretty with a tan in the summer so I'm very much looking forward to that!
Grape Juice: a very girly pink-toned lilac shade which I'd say is pretty similar to Barry M's Berry Ice Cream. For some reason I've become a a bit of a hoarder when it comes to lilac shades of nail polish but Grape Juice is still a very welcome addition to the collection with it being such a light and feminine shade.
Strawberry Tart: a warm-toned baby pink shade that immediately make me think of strawberry milkshakes. I'd say that Models Own Pastel Pink is a pretty close match to the shade of Strawberry Tart although not as bright, and for that reason I'm still glad to have this pretty shade in my collection.
Now on to the main selling point.. the scents! I wouldn't recommend giving the polish a sniff in the bottle as it does still smell quite chemically but once the polish is applied and dried on the nail you are left with a subtle but lovely scent. I'd say that the scent of each polish matches its intended fruit pretty well, with the smell instantly taking me back to the days of scented gel pens at school. Oh the good old days! I'm also a huge fan of the scratch and sniff lids as I was sniffing away as soon as the polishes arrived.
All in all I think this has been a fabulous collection from Models Own that has definitely given this pastel lover so many new favourites to choose from this spring and summer! The collection has already been released at the Models Own bottleshop and will soon be available in Boots stores, although if you choose to pre-order the collection on the Models Own website you could have your hands on it before its release date like I did. The collection of five polishes is available to preorder for £20 (a saving of £5), including free P+P and a free nail block for buffing and filing.
