Minds + Machines announced today for the first time, they will be running an Early Access Program (EAP) as part of the launch of .law and .abogado (spanish).
The EAP period will run 8 days from 12-18 October.
“During this EAP period an extra fee will be charged in addition to the standard annual charge for each domain name. Each day, the EAP fee will descend in price until the point where on the 8th day, the EAP fee will no longer exist and only Standard or Premium name annual charge will apply.”
I’m told the the wholesale price of a day 1 & 2 EAP registration will be the same as Donuts, $10,000 for day 1 and $2,500 for day 2 plus the markup by the registrar and the cost of the domain including those that have premium registration and renewal fees.
“Both .law and .abogado will be restricted to licensed lawyers or law firms, and all initial applications and renewals will be examined to verify that the registrant’s license is current. To be eligible for a name as a law firm, the firm must provide legal services and a partner or equivalent must be a licensed lawyer. Other legal professionals, such as paralegals or researchers, will not qualify for a .law or .abogado domain name.
A challenge procedure will be available in the case of disbarment or other event that causes a current registrant to no longer qualify for a .law or .abogado name.”
