Microsoft Launches OneNote for Mac for Free, Makes Windows Version Completely Free

Microsoft seems to be determined to take on Evernote in a very unique way. Instead of launching a completley new product that would mimic Evernote features, Microsoft updated OneNote and added more features to it.

The major update for OneNote is the release of OneNote for Mac, a free version of OneNote for Windows ( desktop version ).
Windows Store already had OneNote available for Microsoft tablets , laptops and desktop PCs but the desktop version had always been bundled with the Office Suite which was a paid option for everyone. But OneNote now is available for free even for Windows users without the need to buy the Office Suite.

Along with the release of new versions Microsoft also released a new API for first and third-party apps to communicate directly with OneNote making OneNote open to be tapped and used by any App or software which wants to integrate OneNote’s notebook features to their App.

The launch of OneNote for Mac makes OneNote now available on every available platform viz. Windows, Windows Phone, iOS, Android and Mac. Microsoft already has a web version of OneNoe which can be used within a browser from any system.  Visually Microsoft has tried to make every OneNote version look very similar to

To demonstrate the new cloud APIs and third-party support, Microsoft also released the OneNote Clipper which lets you save webpages from your browser. You can also email notes or web links or anything that you want to add to your notebook to [email protected] Featured Apps"> Featured Apps"> Featured Apps"> Featured Apps"> Featured Apps"> Featured Apps">OneNote’s partner apps support is vast and includes Feedly, IFTTT, News360, Weaver, Mod Notebooks,  JotNote and GeniusScan. Apart from web and software partners, Microsoft has also worked with hardware companies like Epson, Brother, Livescribe to enhance the OneNote support not only to printers but write notes via the LiveScribe and print as you want.
