Meet Amazfit, Xiaomi’s New Affordable GPS-equipped Smartwatch

Xiaomi is now a synonym of high specced, beautifully designed yet affordable devices. Off late, the Tech brand has not shied away from experimenting at all in terms of products, designs etc and not limited itself to Smartphones and Tablets. Keeping up with the trend, Xiaomi today unveiled a new affordable GPS equipped Amazfit Smartwatch.

The Xiaomi Amazfit launch followed by the launch of a GPS enabled smartwatch for kids. This smartwatch like the other activity tracking devices is made by Huami, a Xiaomi sub-brand, and currently will be limited to China only.

Xiaomi claims that this smartwatch is world’s first smartwatch with a 28nm GPS sensor. It is dust and water resistant with IP67 certification. It comes with a ceramic bezel, which Xiaomi claims to be scratch resistant. The best part is the band are user replaceable in the smartwatch.

In terms of specifications of Xiaomi Amazfit Smartwatch, it comes with a 1.34-inch display with a 300 x 300 resolution, a 1.2GHz processor with 51MB RAM, 4GB storage, a heart rate sensor, and a 200 mAh battery. The battery is good enough for powering the smartwatch for 35 hours with GPS tracking while providing 11 days of backup for step tracking.

As you would expect from Xiaomi, pricing has been kept very aggressive for Amazfit Smartwatch and it is priced at CNY 799 which roughly amounts up to $120 or Rs 8030.  What do you think, if this was available in your market, would you consider it?
