Anthony's Hotel Rating: 75/100 Media One Hotel, Dubai: A Fresh Place with Enjoyable Colors More about: Media One HotelColors and more colors follow you all around the Media One Hotel in Dubai. The minute you walk into the lobby, into the black elevators and around the corridors that lead to your room – you are overwhelmed with colors that ready your senses for a great experience ahead. Soothing colors that are relaxing and fresh including green and back lit violet create a a zen ambiance… But I must note that the zen ambiance may be altered by the mass advertising internal campaigns that will pollute your well being.

From its unconventional atmosphere through to its smart and thoughtful service, Media One believes it’s the small things that make the difference. Media One’s collection of culinary and nightlife choices offers a vibrant and eclectic mix of outlets from caféM for a casual get together, the Z:ONE lounge bar and terrace for lunches, light snacks and evening drinks; THE MED our signature Mediterranean restaurant and terrace, to THE DEK on 8 a chill out lounge by the pool deck.

Media One shines the brightest once the sun goes down and from Thursday evening until Saturday evening there is a variety of value for money dining options throughout the hotel with comfortable stylish lounges and bars to make the most of the night; and cool parties at the chicest poolside in Dubai, featuring a live international DJ’s until late bringing the party to life! But bed is never more than an elevator ride away for you to make a silent getaway to your deluxe room for a blissful night’s sleep.

Enter the hotel where the reception desk welcomes you. To the left are three individual salons, while to the right is the bar. I was welcomed and showed to my room on the 14th floor. Even though a bit small, the glass bathroom makes the room look bigger… A jacuzzi, a large bed, spacious bathroom, working desk, sofa and an LCD TV is perfect for a business trip.Media_One_Hotel_Dubai35The room described:
  • After passing the door, to the right is a series of cupboards as well as a desk and a mirror
  • To the left is the open bathroom which is surrounded by glass
  • Move forward to enter the room
  • A king-size bed facing the window
  • On the wall is the TV setup in the middle of a mirror stripe
  • A small desk and a sofa make of it a room for businessmen
  • A minibar is filled with drinks and bites
  • The bathroom has a large jacuzzi as well as a full set of amenities
  • In the closet are the slippers and bathrobe
Media_One_Hotel_Dubai01Some points that requires consideration:
  • The television in the room has no moving arm. You’ll have to sleep on one side to watch TV without the ability to read the captions.
  • As for the bathroom, it is only impressive to look at. The water pressure is too low making bathing a hard job to accomplish. Although the curvy bathtub is beautiful, showering in it is a bit hard. You’ll have to stand 40cm away from the water paying continuously attention not to fall down.
  • This 4-start hotel, in my opinion, is cheapened by the thousands of advertisements that follow you all around the place. It is too much: LCD screens, posters, banners, flyers… Too much of everything everywhere, advertising events and restaurants of Media One. Are we in a circus or a classy hotel?
  • Breakfast and lunch on the first day were enjoyable. I think they should slow down on the advertising related to the food service and quality.
Media_One_Hotel_Dubai24The things to improve:
  • Ask all the staff, I mean all, to add “Mr.” Before guests names
  • A guest is called by his family name not his first name
  • More pressure must be added to the water in bathrooms
  • Please enough advertising
  • After sunset, the hotel turns into a nightclub where music plays all night pounding on your head. I had to escape all public spaces and take refuge in my room to avoid stress. This is definitely not a hotel for people looking to enjoy a calm stay
  • I think it’s not right to still charge for Internet service in 2014. And not in any hotel, but one located in Dubai’s media hub. It’s a shame!
I enjoyed my stay regardless of the few little things that need to be improved. As for the water pressure, it can’t but be fixed.
