MD/AA Jiao’s Pulsed Mask Foaming Face Cleanser Review

Sometime back at the Sample Store Beauty show, I got the MD/AA Jiao's Pulsed Mask Foaming Face Cleanser from Beauty Keeper as one of my goodie bag items. What's really cool about this cleanser is the fact that it foams up by itself. Something like the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Clay Mask but a lot less bubble and it's not a mask.

The interesting and cool thing about the packaging is the laser cut design at the top of the box. It's their company's logo! Cool!

On top of that, they used unique ingredients such as a natural cold spring water. The natural cold spring water in the product is derived from the volcano in between the Russia and China borders. It help improve absorption of ingredients. Additionally, there's aloe vera extract which can help in repairing and restoring the skin's balance. It is suitable for all skin types, but it's made specially for those with acne-prone skin or damaged skin.

Product claims to:

  • Cleanse away makeup and impurities on the skin
  • Increase hydration and softness
  • Soap Free
  • Gentle enough to retain the moisture on the skin
  • Increase hydration and oxygen to the skin
  • Tightens pores
  • Condition oil secretion

As you can see from above, the product uses a pump system such that everything is not only more hygienic but it ensures the oxygen activated product does not get triggered. After using it a few times, I found that between half to one pump is more than enough for your face and your neck.

  • Use twice daily
  • No hand-rubbing needed - this is such a weird phrase
  • Clean quickly in 30 seconds, rinse off with warm water

Directions - as written on the package:

As mentioned above, half to one pump is more than enough for one's face and neck - which is the amount I have right here. Try not to layer too thick of a layer for you might suffocate on foams. A thin even layer on the face and neck is enough.

I was expecting a rather liquid or a light textured gel. Instead, the product was rather thick and smooth. Do be sure to act quickly for the gel transform into these tiny little bubbles in the blink of an eye.

Look! Although the foam and bubble not as much and as thick as you would have if you used the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Clay Mask, it's quite a decent amount for a cleanser which you use everyday. As mentioned on the package ,"no hand-rubbing is needed." That means, all you have to do is to leave the gel there after you evenly spread it on, maybe brush your teeth or do some or things in that 30 seconds - as a Singaporean we can do many things in 30 seconds - and the gel will bubble. After it finish bubbling, pop those bubbles and massage it around - this step is oddly satisfying. Finally, rinse it off.

As per a Korean beauty video which I watched just the other day, foam is good for your face for it helps reduce the amount of skin contact and give you some lubricant while you massage your face and let the blood flow.

However, since it does bubble up rapidly, there is a light tingly sensation while it happens. I would not describe it as itchy for it is not that extreme but it's just a slight tingle. Furthermore, there is a fresh scent from the product which does remind me of the scent of hotel toiletries - which is not bad, mind you.

Anyways, moving on to the makeup test. As mentioned in it's claims, it does remove makeup but how much makeup? In this post, we're going to test it!

Over here, I have 3 ranges of makeup, concealer being the easiest to remove, eyeliner and matte liquid lipstick being the harder ones. I put a thin even layer - or as even as I can - over them and they have foamed.

  • It maintains hydration and softness
  • Moisture is retained on the skin but not increased
  • Pores are cleaned but not deeply cleanse
  • After usage for a few hours T-zone seemed a bit oily however this can be the cause of the other products I'm using

Wash it off with water and here are the results. As you can see, there's no concealer left, there's still a hint of eyeliner faded in it's place and the red lippie doesn't want to fully disappear from my arm. Thus I would conclude that the MD/AA Jiao's Pulsed Mask Foaming Face Cleanser does help with removing light makeup such as foundation or concealer.

Whereas for the other claims, here's the summary:

All in all I feel that the MD/AA Jiao's Pulsed Mask Foaming Face Cleanser works well as a cleanser. I like the concept of allowing it to bubble up for 30 seconds. However, it's moisturizing factor is still lackluster. Thus I would give it 4 IreviewUread smiles.
