Making The Most Of The Weekend

By Philmonk

I don’t know about you but I like to get out and ‘do something’ at the weekends. I hate sitting around and doing nothing. Weekends go so quickly and before you know it its back to work on Monday.

Like a lot of dads (and mums) having to work in the week means not getting to see much of family during the week so I like to try and make sure I have as much ‘family time’ as we can squeeze in.

I miss out on so much of my little girl growing up that it’s really important for me to make sure I spend as much time with her at the weekend as possible.

As well as doing a bunch of the normal stuff like drawing, painting, reading books and playing on her slide (I actually think if I did that I’d break it) it’s nice to get out and about in the fresh air.

We’re very lucky where we live, we have parks and lots of green open spaces to go to when the weather is nice which is a also an inexpensive way of entertaining ourselves! Getting out and about doesn’t need to be expensive. We like to take a picnic and find a park, Jessica loves to play and rarely sits down to eat but spending time as a family is great.

Making the most of the weekends can be difficult at times, there is always normal stuff that needs doing around the house but we try and make it as fun as possible and involve Jessica.

To me it’s spending as much time with her, especially now she is getting bigger is essential. She has just turned two and seems to be changing and growing everyday. Weekends is the only time I get to see all of the things my wife tells me about. Stuff she gets up to during the week when I’m not there.
