Makeup Favourites of 2013
It's only a couple of days until the new year arrives so I thought that I would say goodbye to 2013 by hopping on the bandwagon and showing you all my top products of the last year in a kind-of awards type style. If my memory serves me correctly, it's the first 'favourites' post that I've ever really featured here on this little blog because I find that I don't really try enough products to make them on a monthly basis. Nevertheless, I've discovered a few beauties this year that have become absolute staples for me.
LIPS: I'm cheating on this one, I just cant make-up (pun not intented!) my mind! This is the first year I have ever really started wearing a lot of color on my lips but I still prefer to keep it sheer most of the time. The L'Oreal Rouge Caresse's (Impulsive Fuschia, Fashionista Pink, Aphrodite Scarlet) perfectly cater to my needs with a nourishing balm like formula and a sheer pop of colour, but when I need luxury, it's the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine (#15 Corail Intuitive) that comes out. Basically the same product, one has much prettier packaging...
Strong Contender: Any type of Lip Laquer, namely the Rimmel Apocalips and Collection Creme Puffs - beautiful color payoff and a lasting formula, but not quite the every-day essential.
EYES: Could it be anything other than the NAKED 2? If I'm going for eyeshadow, out this palette comes. It caters for any look (particular favourites are Snakebite and Bootycall) and the buttery formulas are a dream to work with. I couldn't ask for anything more (except maybe the Naked 3
Strong Contender: So Susan Fairy Lashes Mascara - a beautifully natural mascara that seperates and lengthens to give a fluttery look. Unfortunately, it cant hold a curl for the life of it *insert sad face
BRUSHES: Real Techniques Core Collection, they buff like a dream, blend like magic and are as soft as feathers. Their greatness can not be put down in words.
Strong Contender: This set of eBay Brushes which are amazing for anyone on a budget and do an amazing job considering their cost.
SKIN CARE: The ARK Pre-Cleanse and Age Defence Cleanser have become a staple in my evening skincare routine. I find that they deep clean really well, without stripping and drying the skin like I find some brands do, so are perfect for everyday use. Simples.
Strong Contender: LUSH's Magnaminty - a brilliant mask that is perfect for zapping spots at the root, but it can become a little drying if used to often (probably my fault then...
BASE: When it comes to bases, it's taken me a long time to find something that even remotely works for me. Pretty late in the year I came across the Revlon Nearly Naked (Shell) which actually looks like skin (I was unaware that foundation could even do this!) and buffs in to give the perfect light coverage, I'm wearing nothing type look.
Strong Contender: Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - a favorite of the blogging world but it's not without it's faults, I find that it can very easily be over applied, leading to a cakey finishes and it has a tendency to oxidise quite a lot too.
CHEEKS: The Downboy Blush from the Balm has been a year round favorite of mine and I don't know why, but it just works. Something about the baby pink gives a perfect, I've just been outside flush to the cheeks which looks beautiful with any makeup look and in any season too.
Strong Contender: NARS Dolce Vita - A beautiful dusty rose
Raving over, what have been your favorite products of 2013?
