Cheapest Electric Bill Plans for Large Texas Homes

Whether you have a large Texas home or you regularly use more electricity than average in Dallas, you need an energy plan that not only gives you the cheapest rates but also the cheapest monthly electric bill. And while some plans advertise low rates, they often focus on homes that use 1000 kWh each month. The problem is that if you use more, you may end up paying a higher electric bill in the Oncor service area. Fortunately, there’s a solution. We’ve sorted out the 5 best plans that produce the lowest electric bills for high electricity use homes in Dallas.

Cheap 15-Month Light Company Electricity Plan

Spark Energy’s Choice 15 provides a low electricity rate of 5.2 cents per kWh. There are no additional charges outside of the Oncor TDU charges. Once you add those in, you’ll pay an average rate of 9.3 cents per kWh on your electric bill for 2000 kWh of use. At that rate, you’d have an estimated monthly bill of around $197. And leaving the plan before it ends isn’t cheap; the early termination fee with this plan costs $100.

Cheap 18-Month Electricity for High Use

Entrust 18 from Entrust Energy offers a straightforward electricity plan with cheap rates. Switching to this electricity plan will give you an energy charge of 5 cents per kWh. With the $4.95 base charge and the TDU charges, you’ll pay an average of 9.3 cents per kWh for 2000 kWh of use. That’ll give you an estimated monthly bill of around $200  As with longer-term plans, the early termination fee for this 18-month, fixed-rate electricity plan is more, too: $150.

Cheap 6-Month Rates from Texas Electricity Company

If you’re looking to lock in cheap electricity rates for a shorter term, you should check out Texas Fixed 6 from Pulse Power. You’ll get an electricity charge of 9.0 cents per kWh. You’ll also have a low base charge of $4.95 per billing cycle. With the TDU charges factored in, your average rate comes to 9.2 cents per kWh for 2000 kWh of use. So, your estimated monthly bill would be around $197. There’s also an early termination fee of $20 for each month in the contract.

TriEagle Energy also offers cheap electricity rates for high-use homes. Eagle 6 has an energy charge of 9.3 cents per kWh. There’s a base charge of $4.95. With the TDU charges and base charge wrapped up, you’ll pay an average of 9.5 cents per kWh for 2000 kWh of use. This would bring your estimated monthly bill to around $191. The early termination fee with this plan is also $20 for each month left in the contract.

Cheapest Electric Bill Plans for Large Homes in Dallas

Constellation offers the 12 Month Flat Tier Plan for the cheapest electricity rates for a large Dallas home. This tiered rate energy plan charges $80 for up to 1000 kWh of electricity use. For usage between 1001 – 2000, you’ll pay an additional $80. After that, your rate changes to 9.9 cents per kWh. With those rates, you’d have an estimated monthly bill of $183.

This electricity rate includes the standard TDU charges, so you can expect an average rate of 8 cents per kWh up to 2000 kWh of use. Meanwhile, this plan also contains a cheap early termination fee option that will cost you $50 to leave the plan early.

Switch to Cheaper Electricity in Dallas

You have the power to choose the cheapest electricity rates for your large Texas home. But, the deregulated energy market can be tricky to navigate. And unless you don’t shop and compare,  you could pick a plan that doesn’t provide savings for homes that have above-average energy use. You could be stuck paying a higher electric bill.
