Louise and Antony traveled from their home in the UK to get married in Central Park. They met through a blind date which had been arranged by a friend and had been together two and a half years before getting married.

Antony had proposed on a previous visit to New York City, also in Central Park. Their previous visit had taken place in the Winter time and they were at the Wollman ice rink which is on the East side between 62nd and 63rd Streets.

When they came to discuss wedding locations it was New York City from the start for them. They really did not consider anywhere else. And, they felt that Central Park is the most beautiful part of the City, so it was no contest for them.

I asked Louise if they had any concerns about getting married in Central Park and she said that she had the worry I find most common in the British couples I work with – she was worried about the chance of rain. Of course this is a risk that arises when you choose an outdoors location for your wedding. In fact Manhattan sees very little rain in the summertime. See my blog about it. If it does rain, it tends to be a big downpour and over quite quickly. So, being a little flexible on ceremony timings can help reduce stress about rain. I would suggest that couples bear the possibility of rain in mind when choosing a ceremony location, some of them are more pleasant after rainfall than others.

Louise and Antony stayed in New York City for four nights, in the boutique hotel Gramercy Park Hotel for four nights. The hotel is in a lovely and historical part of East Midtown, created in the 1830s for New York’s very well-to-do families who wanted to move into the quieter part of town.

On the day of their wedding Louise and Antony made use of their hotel and held their wedding reception on the Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop terrace.

Louise wore a beautiful Jenny Packham wedding dress and carried cream peony roses. The ceremony was in the Conservatory Gardens, but they had plenty of photos taken all over Central Park to get the full benefit of all the beautiful sights there. Louise and Antony’s union was witness by twelve guests of family and close friends.
