Little Tokyo Milk Tea: A Taste of Tokyo in a Cup

It's not that I'm avoiding or averting my gaze whenever I see a milk tea post on social media. It is just that I suddenly was not interested in this beverage anymore. Or, it might have something to do with social distancing.

Once upon a time, people pass by their favourite coffee and milk tea shop to purchase their favourite beverage. With the new normal, this was no longer an option for most. The best way is to brew your own at home or have it delivered. I brew my coffee and sometimes stick to those 3-in-1 sachets. For milk tea, I would also do the same. But when cooking tapioca pearls became tedious, I gave up on milk teas for months.

But since the start of Simbang Gabi, I started craving for it. After doing my research, the one that caught my eye is a shop called Little Tokyo.

LITTLE TOKYO MILK TEA

The Little Tokyo branch I found via the foodpanda app is at Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City. I'm not familiar with them and haven't seen their shop before. But based on their menu and Facebook page, they have classic milk tea, fruit tea coolers and cheesecake series. Under each category are a few selections that are easy to distinguish.

For me, this is a good thing as I dislike shops that offer numerous choices. It makes it difficult for customers to choose and identify which is which.

Going back, when I saw this milk tea shop on the foodpanda, I quickly scanned their menu. The moment I read Sakura, I was intrigued. Since there is a 25%off on all foodpanda PRO orders, I decided to get three different milk teas.

THE REVIEW

I choose Okinawa Milk Tea, Sakura Cheesecake and Tokyo Cheesecake all in medium size. When my order arrived, the driver informed me that I have a free Tokyo Cheesecake because the shop has an ongoing promo that month. Cool eh?

By the way, there are other people at home, which is why I did not hesitate to order three. Now that that is out of the way, allow me to share my review.

Their Okinawa Milk Tea is okay, but it is my least favourite. I have no problems with their mix; however, I have tasted better ones. Now for the two cheesecakes. Tokyo is good but, Sakura is the best.

Compared to the other Sakura drinks I've tried, Little Tokyo's is not flowery. I wanted it to be a little bit, but their mixture is still delicious. I guess it works well as the cheesecake balances the whole taste. I enjoyed it and wished there were two Sakura Cheesecakes instead.

Besides the beverage itself, it's also worth to mention that their pearls are well-cooked. They were all chewy inside and out.

Would you like to try these out yourself? Little Tokyo Milk Tea is open for walk-ins and deliveries via foodpanda app ( New user?
