Nudged by Bono, Jonathan Ive the renowned creator of iPhone, iPad and iPod designs turned his interests into charity. Teaming up with a designer Marc Newson, Ive produced an auction as part of Project (RED), the charity initiated by Bono aimed at helping the victims of AIDS. One of the objects featured on the auction was a custom Leica camera designed by Ive and Newson themselves. Based on Leica Digital Rangefinder Camera, the Leica M RED Camera comes with a magnesium die-cast body, while its outer shell is made of milled and anodised aluminum. If you’re already missing the chance of snapping up the Ive-made Leica just don’t be, unless your plans included splurging $1.8 million. Well, it was for a good cause, after all.
